Roblox Alt Account: How to Create One and Keep It Separate from Your Main

October 17, 20265 min readRblxScript Editorial

An alt (alternate) account is a second Roblox account you own. You create it like any account, with its own username, birthday and password, and ideally its own email. Roblox's official Account Switcher lets you jump between up to five accounts on the web. An alt keeps risk away from your main account, but Roblox can still act on every account it links to you.

People make alts for plenty of ordinary reasons: a clean start in a game, a separate account for recording videos, a place to try things without touching the account with years of items on it. On this site we mention alts for a more specific reason. If you test scripts, the main account should never be the one at risk.

Is having more than one account allowed?

Yes. Roblox built a feature for it: the Account Switcher, meant for "users with multiple accounts". What the Terms of Use forbid is using someone else's account, selling accounts and buying them. Every account you use has to be yours. And Roblox discourages sharing accounts, even between siblings, because anyone with access can change the password or spend your Robux.

How to create an alt account

  1. Log out of your main account, or open a private browser window.
  2. Go to roblox.com and fill in the sign-up form: birthday, a new username and a password.
  3. Use a password you do not use anywhere else, including your main account.
  4. Add and verify an email in Settings. It is required for 2-Step Verification and for recovering the account.
  5. Turn on 2-Step Verification in the Security tab. An alt can be stolen too.

Switching between accounts

On the web, click the gear icon at the top right of the Home page and pick Switch Account. You can add up to five accounts. The list is stored only on your device. Other players cannot see which accounts you switch between, and the list does not sync to your other devices.

  • The Account Switcher only works for users 13 and older, and not for accounts with parent privileges.
  • Signing into the same account on two devices and launching a game from both gives Error Code 264. Use a different account per device instead.
  • On a phone, the simple way is to log out of one account and into the other.

Keeping it separate

"Separate" here means one thing: if something goes wrong on the alt, your main account shouldn't go down with it. That is about security, not about hiding. The practical checklist:

Keep apartWhy
PasswordA leaked alt password should not open the main account.
EmailIf the alt's email is compromised, the main account's reset links stay safe.
Items and RobuxAnything valuable belongs on the main account, not on the one you test with.
Logins on tool sitesNever type either password on a site that is not roblox.com.

Mistakes that tie an alt to your main

  • Reusing the main account password on the alt. One leak, two lost accounts.
  • Moving Robux or limiteds to the alt "just for a bit". If the alt goes, they go with it.
  • Skipping the email and 2-Step Verification on the alt. Then nobody, including you, can recover it.
  • Logging into the alt on a "login with Roblox" page of a tool site. That page gets the password, and the reused one if you have it.

What an alt does not protect you from

This is the part most videos skip. The Roblox Terms of Use say that if you break the rules, Roblox may suspend or terminate your account "including by suspending or terminating any alternate account(s) you create or have created". The Account Switching help page adds that Roblox may act on different accounts it determines belong to the same user.

So an alt lowers the stakes. It doesn't make scripts allowed and it isn't a guarantee. The Community Standards also list using a VPN to mask your location to gain unauthorized access as a violation, so that is not a fix either.

What the video mentions

In the MatLumber tutorial for Delta 2.735 on Android, the description says it directly: if you do not want to use your main account, create a new one for the test. It also tells viewers to remove the regular Roblox app before installing the Delta APK, to avoid install errors.
