Steal an Egg Guide: How the Game Works, Rare Eggs and the September Updates

In Steal an Egg you sneak past sleeping monsters, grab an egg from a nest and run it back to your pen before another player tackles you. The egg hatches into a pet that earns money every second. Rarity and size decide how much. Everything else in the game is about running faster and carrying better eggs.

The core loop

1. Walk into a biome and find a nest. A monster sleeps next to it.
2. Grab the egg and run. If the monster catches you, the run is over, so don't stop.
3. Carry the egg to your pen. Other players can tackle you on the way and take it.
4. Place the egg and wait for it to hatch into a pet.
5. The pet earns cash per second. Spend it on base upgrades and on treadmill training for speed.

Speed is the stat that matters most early. A faster character reaches better nests, escapes monsters and loses fewer eggs to other players. That's why the treadmill is the first upgrade most guides tell you to push.

• Push movement speed first: more eggs per run and fewer tackles.
• Farm the higher-income biomes, such as Jungle and Volcano, as soon as your speed allows it.
• Build a pen of Mythic earners before chasing Cosmic eggs. The income funds the speed you need for them.
• Watch for limited-time eggs. Once an event ends, its eggs stop spawning.

What makes an egg valuable

Two things set an egg's value and the income of the pet inside: rarity and size. Mutations add on top. The rarity ladder starts at Common, Uncommon and Rare, climbs through Epic, Legendary and Mythic, and goes on to Cosmic and Secret. Updates keep adding tiers above that, such as Eternal, Godly and Divine.

Look at the jump between rows. One Secret pet out-earns thousands of Commons. That gap is the whole reason people fight over one nest.

The 5-minute egg reset

Eggs reset every five minutes: about 4 minutes 50 seconds of play, then a 10-second night. The rarest eggs (Secret, Eternal and Divine) can appear on a reset, and the server announces them. When that message pops up, every fast player on the server runs for the same nest. Hatch time also scales: a small common egg opens in seconds, a big rare one with a mutation can take more than a day.

The Rift and the Abyss Overlord

The Rift update landed on September 5, 2026. About every 30 minutes a Rift opens and the game warns that the Abyss Overlord is spawning. The fight has two phases. First you break the power crystals around it, because the boss takes no damage while any crystal stands. Then you hit its arms when they slam down, then the body.

• Each kill gives 1,200 to 1,500 Boss Tokens, a Secret Rift Egg and one level of Boss Mastery. You must land hits to qualify.
• Boss Mastery 5 gives a permanent +50% token bonus.
• The Boss Shop sells the Fractured mutation (+10% money on a pet), a 2x Treadmill Booster and a 2x Cash Booster, each for about 10 minutes.
• A separate Rift Machine asks for three specific pets every three hours and turns them into a Riftborn, Riftbeast or Shattered Rift egg.

Sammy Is Coming and Dr. Scramble

On September 15 the game's Roblox page teased "Sammy Is Coming" for September 19 and 20, saying Sammy would visit the biomes and something was moving under the surface. The event arrived with Dr. Scramble, and it was stacked on top of the Rift and the September 12 Angels vs Demons update, not a replacement. A follow-up, Dr. Scramble's Revenge, ran from September 26 at 15:00 UTC to September 27 at 16:00 UTC.

A warning that also shows up on the fan wiki: during these events, lots of "reward" screenshots and codes circulate that nobody can confirm. The game had no official code redemption screen as of mid-September. A site promising free Secret eggs for your login is a scam, full stop.

What the channel videos show

Three videos cover this game. On SpiderScripts (August 23), Ouroboros Hub filters eggs by area, rarity and mutation, then shows Auto Place, Auto Fuse and Auto Treadmill. The September 16 MatLumber video runs BK's Hub v1.8 with Rift, boss and sacrifice options. The September 19 one runs Limbo Hub v1.0.3 on Sammy day, filtering Cosmic, Eternal, Godly and Divine eggs. That description says outright that Auto Steal is not a Sammy-only feature.
