Grow a Garden 2 Beginner Guide: First Hour, Pets and Earning More Sheckles

October 8, 20265 min readRblxScript Editorial

In Grow a Garden 2 you plant seeds, harvest the crops, sell them for Sheckles and spend the money on better seeds, gear and pets. Spend your first Sheckles on seeds and a sprinkler, not on pets. Your first pet should be a cheap one that helps right away, and most guides point to the Rabbit.

The sequel launched on June 12, 2026. It keeps the farming of the first game and adds stealing, a day and night cycle, defensive plants and a new map. That last part changes how you play from minute one: on a public server, your garden is not safe by default.

Your first hour, step by step

  1. Redeem the active codes first. They give exclusive seeds that sell well and would cost a lot of Sheckles otherwise.
  2. Plant cheap, fast crops like carrots and strawberries. Quick harvests mean quick Sheckles.
  3. Buy a sprinkler once you can. Sprinklers raise the chance of bigger crops, and bigger crops sell for more.
  4. Reinvest in tomatoes and apples as your income grows. Buy tomatoes in bulk.
  5. Only then look at your first pet.

Pets: which one first

In the sequel you don't hatch pets from eggs. You buy them with Sheckles. Each one has an effect: faster growth, collecting fruit, better mutation odds or help defending the garden.

PetPrice (Sheckles)What it does
RabbitLowMore movement speed, to chase thieves or escape
Frog10,000+5 jump height
Deer50,000All plants grow 10% faster
Robin75,000Eats ripe fruit and drops a seed

The Rabbit wins the first slot because it helps with the one thing new players lose to: thieves. The Deer is the first real income pet. The Robin is expensive, but a pet that turns fruit into seeds pays off once you grow rare plants. Prices come from guides published after launch, so check the in-game shop in case they changed.

Weather and mutations: where the money is

A plain crop sells for its base price. A mutated one sells for a multiple of it. Mutations happen during weather events, so the trick is to leave ripe crops in the ground while an event runs.

  • Rain: crops grow faster.
  • Blizzard: can turn crops into frozen variants.
  • Celestial: transforms crops.
  • Midas: spawns golden seeds at night.

There's a catch. Crops left too long start to rot, and rotten crops lose value. Waiting for weather is a bet, not free money. If no event is coming soon, sell. On the other hand, GAMES.GG notes that staying in the game and waiting in your garden for weather is a legitimate way to play, since the events come to you.

Stealing and defending your garden

On public servers other players can walk in and take your crops, and you can do the same to them. A few things keep your harvest safe:

  • At night, staying inside your garden locks it against theft.
  • Gnomes work as thief deterrents.
  • A fast pet like the Rabbit lets you catch a thief before they get away.
  • Public servers also give a friend boost to players who play together, so a friend in the next plot helps twice.

Is bargaining worth it?

The sell counter has an optional bargaining step with an appraisal fee. On a normal crop the fee eats the gain. On a big or mutated crop it can pay off. Keep it for your best items.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Buying decorations early. Props crates make the garden look nice but earn nothing. Leave them for later.
  • Selling everything right before a weather event, when waiting a few minutes could have multiplied the price.
  • Walking away from your garden at night on a public server. That is exactly when it is easiest to protect.
  • Missing rare seeds. The Seed Shop restocks on a timer, and rare seeds like the Mushroom do not show up every time. When they do, they go fast.

The Mushroom is worth a note. At around 15,000 Sheckles it buffs the garden and bounces you up to crops on tall plants. If you see it in the shop and can afford it, it's one of the better mid-game buys.

What the channel videos show

The SpiderScripts channel posted two Grow a Garden 2 videos in the first weeks after launch. The June 24 one shows auto farm, a pet finder and stealing options. The June 27 one covers auto farm and auto steal, and it is run with the Delta executor.
